The Area Controlled Center (ACC) at Ratmalana was upgraded in mid 2000 with a fully integrated Air Traffic Management system, “EUROCAT 1000” which inclusive of oceanic and radar Control facilities through the installation of Automatic Dependant Surveillance (ADS) and Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC) functions.
One international switching node of Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Networks is situated at area control center at Ratmalana. This network is carrying all aeronautical massages connecting east & west via high speed data links. Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN) message Switching Center (MCS) operation at Ratmalana airport serves as one of the nodes in the global AFTN. AFTN has been setup to convey aeronautical messages such as flight planes and metrological information mainly to Singapore, Mumbai & Male centers via telegraph and X.25 Circuits.
