Air Traffic Electronics Engineering Officers’ Association (ATEOA) celebrates its 25th Anniversary today and I am extremely delighted congratulate them on this memorable occasion.
It is heartening to witness the the great strides made by ATEOA over these years in becoming a successful and a strong Association with international recognition, contributing towards achieving the objectives of AASL while being concerned with the interests of its membership.
The Electronics & Air Navigation Engineering Division is vested with many responsibilities of vital importance in the provision of Air Navigation and allied services within the Flight Information Region of Sri Lanka, which are relevant in ensuring Air Traffic Safety. Members of ATEOA being officers attached to this Division, are engaged in maintenance and development activities of all the ground based Navigational Aids, Radar syatems, Air Traffic Management Systems, Aeronautical Communication Systems and associated equipment, ensuring reliable and efficient services with minimum down time.
Due to the nature of services provided by these officers, who are now identified as Air Traffic Safety Engineering Personnel (ATSEP), they need to interact with equipment most of the time, than the passengers or Airline Pilots who are identified as customers of AASL. Therefore importance of the functions carried out by the ATSEPs are hardly known to these categories of customers and general public, compared to most of the other Divisions of AASL who are also involved in provision of equally important services.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing office bearers of ATEOA and the membership in general, for the excellent manner in which interactions were made in addressing the concerns of members, where we managed to reach mutually agreeable solutions, during their tenure.
I also congratulate the new office bearers elected today, and sincerely wish that they will have the courage and determination to lead the ATEOA to greater heights in the year ahead.
