The functions of the Electronics & Air Navigational Engineering section at MRIA is to maintain all navigational aids up to the international standards laid down by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
- ILS (Instrument Landing systems) – Provide center line & glide angle information of a runway to the landing Air Craft.
- DME (Distance Measuring Equipment) – Provides Slant distance to the Air Craft from the Airport.
- DVOR (Doppler Very High Frequency Omni-Directional Range) – Provides accurate bearing information of a runway ends.
Apart from that, radar feed display, AMHS (Aeronautical Message Handling System), relevant data processing and display systems are also provided to the air traffic control department. AWOS (Automated Weather Observing System) is another vital sophisticated equipment which located around the run way field to update weather condition.
VHF (Very High Frequency) ground to air communication system, Digital voice communication switching systems, Voice archiving & replay system, UHF (Ultra High Frequency) trunk communication system and airport security baggage clearance & security screening systems are also maintained by this section.
